Be on the lookout for the High Pressure Certified Seal, coming soon to a delicious product near you! The seal will serve as verification that the highest standards of high pressure processing (HPP) have been maintained. Brands that use the seal will have received verification of their processes, hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) plan and validations studies.
Eligible Cold Pressure Council members can use the High Pressure Certified certification mark to help identify the benefits delivered by High Pressure Processing. Consumers will recognize the value of products that carry the certification mark.
The Cold Pressure Council, an industry trade group convened by PMMI, is the driving force behind the seal. The Council addresses questions about HPP, develops and formalizes industry best practices, leads, facilitates and promotes industry standardization, user education and consumer awareness of HPP. The Council also promotes networking among professionals using HPP.
“The Council is quickly becoming an important source in the world of HPP,” said Lisa Wessels, Marketing Director-HPP for JBT/Avure. “As more and more companies are adding HPP to their product lines, it’s critical to have an organization where innovation, best practices and standardization can be discussed and formalized.”
Check out the Cold Pressure Council website to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member. And don’t forget to make plans to attend the Cold Pressure Council Annual Conference, June 18-20 in Chicago. This conference will feature presentations on HPP business, production and technical advancements.
